National flowers of Iran

Do you know what is the national flowers of Iran? I’ll tell you. at the first in Farsi language, “GOL”  has two meaning. “Gol”  is a flower and “Goal” in the football game. but which ones? I prefer this “Gol=flower”.

now I want to speak about why we have a national flower? this topic is related to last years. there are many reasons for this topic. flowers can be a symbol of countries like flags. the national flower is a symbol of the country. choosing a national flower depends on somethings. conditions of the country, mores and many other things. for example, in India, the lotus flower is a national flower but it is a religious symbol. it is the symbol of creation in Hindu religion. or in Netherland, Tulip is a symbol and it is related to agricultural.

National flowers of Iran are Lotus, Cypress tree, Roze, Tulip.

Lotus flower for Iranian people is the symbol of Nahid (Nahid is Iranian name). the Nahid’s root is Anahita. Anahita made of two-part (An-Ahita). Anahata’s meaning is innocent. Nahid related to Zoroastrian religion who called the mother of existence.

cypress tree(Juniper), sometimes in some countries like Saudi Arabia, the trees are a symbol. in this country, the palm tree is national flower. for Zoroastrians this tree is sacred. these people have said that this tree is from paradise for Atashkade(the place for praying God). since the past time, Iranian people believe this tree is the symbol of freedom. you can see this tree on Qalamkar in below picture.

Roze, this flower as known “Gole Mohammadi”. Iranian people use this flower for making rose water. Qamsar city is central to rose water of Iran. they make rose water (Golab) in April(Ordibehesht).

Tulip, this flower is the symbol of martyrdom. we have many kinds of this flower. Fritillaria (Lale VaJhgon)  is one of them.
